About Open ADHD
A free tool built with care for minds that work differently.
Our Values
Privacy First
Your assessment runs entirely in your browser. We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal data. No accounts, no tracking, no selling your information. Your journey is yours alone.
Accessible to All
Available in multiple languages, works on any device, and completely free forever. We believe everyone deserves access to mental health resources regardless of their financial situation or location.
Open Source
The code is publicly available for review. We believe in transparency — you can see exactly how the assessment works and verify our privacy claims for yourself.
Evidence-Based
Our assessment is grounded in DSM-5 criteria and informed by established screening tools like the ASRS. We're transparent about what this tool can and cannot do.
Who This Is For
This tool is designed for adults who:
- Have wondered if they might have ADHD
- Want a private, no-pressure way to explore their traits
- Are considering whether to seek a formal evaluation
- Were diagnosed as children and want to revisit how ADHD affects them as adults
- Want to better understand someone in their life who has ADHD
Note: This assessment is designed for adults (18+). ADHD assessment in children requires specialized evaluation by healthcare professionals experienced in pediatric development.
What This Is Not
To be completely transparent about our limitations:
- 1 Not a diagnosis. Only qualified healthcare professionals can diagnose ADHD through comprehensive clinical evaluation. This is a self-reflection tool.
- 2 Not medical advice. We don't provide treatment recommendations. Always consult healthcare providers for medical decisions.
- 3 Not a substitute for professional help. If you're struggling, please reach out to a mental health professional. This tool is a starting point, not a destination.
Behind the Project
Open ADHD was created by individuals who understand the ADHD experience firsthand. We've navigated the challenges of late diagnosis, the relief of finally understanding ourselves, and the frustration of inaccessible resources.
This project is part of a family of open-source mental health tools designed to make self-understanding more accessible. We don't accept venture capital, we don't sell ads, and we never monetize your data.
We're committed to keeping this tool free and improving it based on community feedback. If you have suggestions, find bugs, or want to contribute, we'd love to hear from you.
